A state-of-the-art CAD $20 million US$14.7 million Ontario Swine Research Centre, inaugurated on August 24th of this year, significantly enhances the province's capabilities in research, innovation, and development of new technology med at benefiting Ontario pork producers and consumers.
The groundbreaking event was celebrated by representatives from the University of Guelph, the government of Ontario, Canada’s federal government, and Ontario Pork, marking the grand opening of the facility located in Elora, Ontario. The construction of this center is a result of a collaborative investment led by the government of Ontario, the Agricultural Research Institute of Ontario ARIO, and the Ontario Pork industry consortium.
This new facility builds upon the existing network of research institutes owned by ARIO and managed by the University of Guelph through the Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance. The University of Guelph's legacy in collaboration with government partners to drive innovation and foster growth within the agri-food sector is unparalleled, highlighted Dr. Charlotte Yates, President of the University.
