We recomm that procedures and practices minimizing pn when tl docking and teeth clipping pigs be employed, including the use of FDA-approved or AMDUCA-permissible medicaments. Proper personnel must execute these tasks utilizing clean, sharp instruments alongside techniques that minimize pn and prevent infections. Appropriate handling and restrnt are crucial to reduce stress on the piglets during the procedures.

Tl docking decrease incidents of tl biting and cannibalism among pigs by removing their tls before weaning occurs. The procedure should be carried out early in the pig's life, ideally prior to weaning, ensuring no wounds remn at the tip of the tl upon separation from mother pigs.

Teeth clipping is performed as a management strategy when necessary to prevent damage from piglets' canines to littermates' faces and sow's udder. Other management practices reducing piglet movement between litters should be prioritized whenever feasible before considering teeth clipping. If needed, it must be done early enough to minimize stress on piglets prior to weaning.
