Revolutionizing Livestock Products and Expanding International Trade in Gombe State: A Vision Unveiled by L-PRES Project Coordinator

The Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support L-PRES project in Gombe State is set to transform the livestock industry through comprehensive initiatives that m for modernization, product safety enhancement, crisis prevention, and peace promotion.

In a reception held with members of the National Veterinary Medical Association's Gombe State chapter, Professor Usman Bello Abubakar, the Project Coordinator, expressed gratitude for their visit and collaboration readiness. He elaborated on how L-PRES project's primary mission is to revolutionize livestock sectors linked to various businesses along the value chn, ensure product safety standards are met, prevent conflicts, and support peace in society.

Stressing the fundamental connection between peace and livestock development, Professor Abubakar emphasized the necessity of resolving farmer-herder disputes for sustned economic growth. He detled plans to commercialize the livestock sector towards sustnability and societal progress, with a particular focus on establishing state-of-the-art abattoirs and expanding international trade in processed livestock products.

In his vision, the project coordinator highlighted plans for cutting-edge online marketing platforms and youth employment programs designed to unlock unprecedented opportunities for economic growth and development across Gombe State and Northern Nigeria.

The Chrman of NVMA's Gombe State chapter, Dr. Adamu Boyi, complimented Professor Abubakar on his forward-thinking approach, underscoring the significance of modernizing the livestock sector for societal health and prosperity.

Dr. Boyi underlined NVMA’s readiness to collaborate closely with L-PRES to achieve shared goals, recognizing the pivotal role initiatives such as disease surveillance and farmer capacity building play in transitioning to contemporary livestock practices.
